A seasoned professional, Ben has captained a variety of motor yachts across the U.S. East Coast, Bahamas, Caribbean, Pacific Northwest, and Central America. His career includes managing both private and charter programs, extensive shipyard oversight, and leading successful dive and sportfishing operations.

Ben is known for his calm command, hands-on engineering expertise, and strong crew management skills. Having originally served as Captain/Engineer on WATERCOLOURS over a decade ago, he returns with a deep familiarity of the vessel and a renewed commitment to delivering exceptional charter experiences.

A graduate of the College of Charleston with a degree in Business Administration and Marine Biology, Ben is also a certified PADI diver, US Sailing instructor, and experienced first responder. His technical and operational background, combined with a personable and professional demeanor, make him an outstanding leader onboard.

Chef Amy Wiffen is a versatile and passionate culinary expert with a wealth of experience in both private and charter yacht settings. Known for her ability to cater to diverse palates, dietary preferences, and nutritional needs, Amy consistently delivers unforgettable dining experiences for guests and crew alike. Her culinary philosophy emphasizes adaptability and a refusal to say “no” when it comes to fulfilling guest requests, making her a favorite among yacht owners and charter clients.

With certifications from renowned institutions like the Ashburton Chef’s Academy and the Bangkok Thai Cooking Academy, Amy excels in a variety of cuisines, including vegan and Asian gastronomy. She has held key positions on yachts such as M/Y Fabulous Character and M/Y Reflections, where she managed high-pressure charter schedules and curated multi-course menus for both intimate and large gatherings.

Amy’s attention to detail extends beyond her culinary creations, as she takes pride in maintaining a well-organized galley and ensuring a smooth dining experience under any circumstances. Her easy-going nature, sense of humor, and strong work ethic have earned her repeat freelance contracts and praise from captains and guests.

In her free time, Amy enjoys creative writing, exploring new culinary experiences, hiking, scuba diving, and wine tasting.

Karly Hinkebein has extensive experience in both private and charter yachts, including her recent role as Chief Stewardess aboard M/Y Mirabella (48m Trinity). She expertly managed a busy dual-season program, orchestrating elaborate events, overseeing interior operations, and liaising with the galley to ensure impeccable meal service. Her accomplishments include planning large-scale onboard events, managing interior projects under tight deadlines, and training interior teams.

Karly’s creative expertise was recognized at prestigious industry events, winning 1st Place in Tablescaping at the Antigua Charter Yacht Show (December 2022) and the Newport Charter Yacht Show (June 2023).

Karly’s enthusiasm, creativity, and team-oriented mindset make her a valued member of any crew. She thrives in high-energy environments and takes pride in mentoring her team while maintaining a professional and welcoming atmosphere for guests.

Nicole Kruger, is a South African national, fluent in English and Afrikaans. Nicole has gained extensive experience on both charter and private yachts, including M/Y YOLO(40m), M/Y Bella (55m), and M/Y Lucky Lady (63m). Her expertise spans cocktail making, silver service, and table decorating, along with responsibilities in housekeeping, laundry, and guest service. Nicole has demonstrated exceptional multitasking and time management skills, including acting as a sole stewardess during a yard period, where she handled provisioning, inventories, and contractor coordination with ease.

Nicole is highly regarded for her creativity in service, attention to detail, and adaptability to new challenges. Her artistic flair and passion for yoga, which includes pursuing a 200-hour teacher training, enhance her ability to provide a world-class experience for guests.

Genevieve Masters was born in Hong Kong, where her family was working at the time, and she spent her early years living across Asia, including Tokyo and Hong Kong. She was raised in Kent, UK, where she developed a strong background in sports, playing hockey at a professional level during her time at university. Following her studies, Genevieve worked as a corporate sports event manager, including experience in organizing F1 events.

Her first exposure to yachting came when her company chartered a yacht for a 100-person event, sparking her interest in the industry. She then transitioned into the yachting world, bringing a wealth of experience from her previous roles, including a year in public relations for an interior designer and a background in marketing.

Genevieve primarily focuses on interior and housekeeping duties, ensuring a comfortable and welcoming environment onboard WATERCOLOURS.

Hobbies: In her free time, Genevieve enjoys outdoor activities such as skiing, hockey, running, and various winter sports, reflecting her active lifestyle and passion for the outdoors.

Michael Keeling hails from the UK and began his career working for a ferry company before transitioning into the yachting industry. Known for his technical expertise, precision, and methodical approach, Michael is a highly skilled and formal engineer who takes his responsibilities seriously. His professionalism and commitment to excellence ensure the smooth operation of all technical aspects onboard.

With a passion for travel and meeting new people, yachting has allowed Michael to merge his love of adventure with his technical skills. He particularly enjoys the unique experiences life at sea offers, such as witnessing dolphins alongside the yacht.

Michael’s experience includes working on yachts such as ALLUNIA, PATIENCE, and NOVELO, and he now brings his dedication and attention to detail to WATERCOLOURS.

Hobbies: Outside of work, Michael is an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying activities such as biking, motorbiking, and fishing, which complement his adventurous nature.

Chris Botha is a highly motivated and professional Chief Officer. With extensive experience as Chief Officer on charter vessels ranging from 40m to 47m, Chris possesses strong bridge and management skills, including watchkeeping, mini-ISM, passage planning, and safety drills. His commitment to operational excellence and leadership has proven invaluable in the smooth and efficient running of all aspects of vessel operations.

Having grown up on the water, Chris brings over 20 years of experience in watersports, enabling him to instruct and guide guests with ease. Whether it’s sportfishing, fitness activities, or watersports, Chris is dedicated to creating an enjoyable and safe experience for everyone on board. His positive attitude, punctuality, and work ethic ensure that all tasks are completed to the highest standards in a safe and efficient manner, while fostering a strong and collaborative working environment among the crew.

Fluent in both English and Croatian, Chris is a reliable team player who thrives in dynamic and challenging environments. Outside of his maritime career, Chris has a passion for fitness and golf, holding a handicap of 9. His diverse skills and enthusiasm make him a strong asset to any yacht team, where he continues to uphold the values of safety, professionalism, and team spirit.

Born and raised in South Africa, Gareth Lloyd studied business management with a focus on marketing. While continuing his studies, he transitioned directly into the yachting industry with the goal of becoming a chase boat captain. His long-term dedication to the industry is evident, and he brings a positive and energetic attitude to the team.

Gareth thrives in the outdoors, which makes the role of deckhand a natural fit for him. His warm and approachable demeanor instantly puts people at ease, creating a sense of familiarity from the moment you meet him. He started his yachting journey on a sailing catamaran before moving to a 92m Lürssen and then joined LUCKY WAVE (former name for WATERCOLOURS), continuing to build on his growing expertise.

Gareth’s love for the sea began during family trips to Mozambique, where he spent his childhood swimming, diving, and engaging in thrilling adventures like whale watching and swimming with whale sharks.

Frankie Smith brings a unique blend of skills and experience from his extensive yachting and maritime career.

Frankie holds dual nationality as British and Antiguan/Bajan. Growing up in Antigua, he developed a deep connection with the ocean, becoming an avid sailor and passionate fisherman. With certifications including STCW, Powerboat Level 2, Boat Master, and PADI Open Water, he is well-equipped for diverse deckhand responsibilities. His career highlights include roles on yachts like M/Y Special One(52m), M/Y Pure Bliss (45m), and S/Y Tamer 2 (36m), where he honed his skills in tender operations, maintenance, and watersports instruction.

Frankie is known for his expertise in deep-sea fishing, a passion he cultivated through roles as a commercial fisherman and fishing charter leader. He has also served as a wakeboarding instructor and watersports guide, enhancing guest experiences with activities like tubing, paddleboarding, and snorkeling. His ability to teach and interact with guests, combined with his enthusiasm for the water, ensures unforgettable experiences. Beyond yachting, Frankie has volunteered with ABSAR (Antigua Barbuda Search & Rescue), further showcasing his commitment to safety and community service.
